Earlier today, it was informed that the Shahid Kapoor starrer action thriller Deva has been preponed from the first week of February to the last week of January, leaving Valentine’s week vacant. Following that update, it has now been revealed that Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna starrer historical drama Chhaava has been postponed to 14 February as the theatrical release date.
For the unversed, Chhaava was initially expected to release in December 2024, however, given the competition with many highly anticipated movies including Pushpa 2: The Rule and Baby John, the production house decided to shift the release date of the historical drama. The new February date not only avoids the crowded December lineup but also holds significant relevance to the film’s storyline. The release date aligns closely with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti, which is celebrated on February 19, making it a meaningful choice for a film rooted in Maratha history.
Based on Shivaji Sawant’s acclaimed book of the same name, Chhaava chronicles the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the valiant son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The film promises to showcase an epic tale of valor, love, and sacrifice. Vicky Kaushal leads the charge as Sambhaji Maharaj, with Rashmika Mandanna portraying his wife, Yesubai, marking their first on-screen collaboration. Akshaye Khanna returns to the big screen after Drishyam 2, taking on the pivotal role of Aurangzeb.
Directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava is being mounted on an extravagant scale, promising a visual spectacle and gripping narrative. The Valentine’s Day release is expected to add an emotional resonance, blending the film’s themes of love and legacy.
