Varun Dhawan and his father, renowned director David Dhawan, are gearing up for their fourth collaboration in Bollywood. Their previous ventures together include hit comedy films like Main Tera Hero, Judwaa 2, and Coolie No. 1. Now, it seems the father-son duo is set to join forces once again for another exciting project.
Insiders familiar with the project have revealed that David Dhawan is preparing for his next directorial venture, which is scheduled to commence production in 2024. According to a source, “During the pandemic, David Dhawan was in discussions with his team of writers on various concepts, and he has finally locked onto something that has piqued his interest for his 46th directorial. It’s a high-budget comedy entertainer and will kickstart filming in 2024. Varun is equally thrilled to return to the comedy genre with the master of comedies.”
This forthcoming comedy is expected to be a grand production, incorporating elements of romance and music, characteristic of David Dhawan’s signature style. The source added, “It’s a quintessential David Dhawan comedy, with the central character entangled in a backdrop of romance. This is David Dhawan’s forte, and he has enlisted young writers to infuse contemporary sensibilities while preserving his comedic essence. The film is slated for a major festive release, and an official announcement will follow soon.”
Varun Dhawan, on the other hand, was last seen in Bawaal opposite Janhvi Kapoor. His next project, #VD18, written by screenwriter Kalees, is produced by Murad Khetani and Priya Atlee and presented by Atlee. #VD18 is set for a worldwide release on May 31, 2024, under the banners of Cine1 Studios and A for Apple Productions.
