Fans of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput have been boycotting movies and projects of many big names of Bollywood for allegedly promoting ‘nepotism’ for months and now Ranveer Singh is on the receiving end. After a recent advert of Bingo went on air with Ranveer Singh as the brand ambassador, #BoycottBingo trended at micro-blogging website Twitter.

In the latest ad campaign of Bingo, brand ambassador Ranveer Singh can be seen interacting with his reel family with bizarre scientific terms. The netizens accuse that the actor and the company are mocking late actor Sushant Singh Rajput for his love for science in the recently released advert. Post the ad campaign went viral with a ‘misleading message’, Twitterati asked to boycott the food brand ITC along with Ranveer Singh for being an ‘insecure copycat’.

After the backlash, spokesperson of ITC issued a statement, “A completely false, erroneous and mischievous message is being posted/circulated alleging that an advertisement of Bingo! is making fun of a late Bollywood celebrity. Such kind of erroneous messages are knowingly spreading falsehoods.” He further mentioned that the ad campaign was lost last year but couldn’t be released due to Coronavirus. “It is being aired this year because of delay in the launch of Bingo! Mad Angles Cheese Nachos and Bingo! Mad Angles Pizza due to the Covid-19 pandemic,” he added.
