Released yesterday, Top Gun: Maverick is ruling the box office in its home country with positive reviews from the audience and critics alike.
Previously touted to be the ‘perfect blockbuster’ after the initial screening, the movie is eyeing to make many records on its name and it has already become the biggest opener of the American actor, Tom Cruise. Hailing Tom Cruise for delivering another masterpiece, the movie lives up to the expectations of the fans and also inches towards a mammoth weekend collection.
As per the latest projections by Deadline, Top Gun: Maverick is already poised to earn $146+ million at the US box office and finally shatter a 15-year Memorial Day Weekend record set by Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, which earned $139.8 million in 2007. It is also being said that the Tom Cruise starrer has Paramount’s preview box office record. It has made $19.3 million through the previews as of now in the US, making it the best in the studio’s history.
The movie has a projected opening day collection of $51 million which is close to Marvel’s Iron Man which collected a gigantic $51.2 million.
Helmed by Joseph Kosinski, Top Gun: Maverick features Tom Cruise in the lead alongside Jennifer Connelly, Val Kilmer, Miles Teller, Glen Powell and more in key roles.
