Web Series has taken over the Indian entertainment market over the last year and even A-listers of the B-town are making their way to the digital world of entertainment with the OTT platforms taking charge. While the list of successful and popular web series that are made for the Indian audience is quite long, we have selected the top 7 web series of the year 2019 that according to us deserves the mention.

7. Sacred Games Season 2

Platform: Netflix

Star Cast: Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Pankaj Tripathi, Amruta Subhash, Kalki Koechlin, Ranvir Shorey

Directors: Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, Neeraj Ghaywan

Number of Episodes: 8

Our Rating: 3 out of 5

Sacred Games 2

After setting the craze with Sacred Games, makers of the web series decided to release a sequel but the over-hyped second season of the show failed to live up to the expectations of the fans. However, the performances by the lead star cast were unmatchable and it deserves a spot in our list of top web series of this year.

6. Tripling Season 2

Platform: TVFPlay/ Sony LIV

Star Cast: Sumeet Vyas, Maanvi Gagroo, Amol Parashar

Director: Sameer Saxena

Number of Episodes: 5

Our Rating: 3.5 out of 5

Tripling Season 2

Following the success of Tripling, the makers released a second addition but likewise Sacred Games, the second season failed to justify the magic of the first season. Following a road journey from Delhi to Sikkim with pitstops in Jaipur, Lucknow, and Kolkata, Tripling 2 is gripping but missing the sense of self-discovery and therefore, comes at number 6 spot of our list.

5. Little Things Season 3

Platform: Netflix

Star Cast: Mithila Palkar, Dhruv Sehgal

Directors: Sumit Aroraa, Ruchir Arun

Number of Episodes: 8

Our Rating: 3.5 out of 5

Little Things Season 3

The third season of the Little Things touches different facets of human nature and teaches us that it is okay to put our ego aside to make things work for our benefit. While the first two seasons of the web series were relatable to many, the third season of the show feels like it has been taken from the chapters of your own life.

4. Criminal Justice

Platform: Netflix

Star Cast: Pankaj Tripathi, Vikrant Massey, Jackie Shroff, Anupriya Goenka, Mita Vashisht, Madhurima Roy

Directors: Tigmanshu Dhulia, Vishal Furia

Number of Episodes: 10

Our Rating: 4 out of 5

Criminal Justice

Based on the British television drama of the same name, Criminal Justice is a gripping thriller with brilliant performances from the star cast. The series revolves around the protagonist, a cab driver, who is trying to acquit himself from murder charges of one of his passengers.

3. Kota Factory

Platform: YouTube/ TVFPlay

Star Cast: Saurabh Khanna, Abhishek Yadav, Sandeep Jain, Himanshu Chouhan, Tamojit Das

Director: Raghav Subbu

Number of Episodes: 5

Our Rating: 4 out of 5

Kota Factory

The Viral Fever took a different approach with their web series, Kota Factory, which is India’s first black and white web series. Capturing the lives of IIT and medical exam aspirants facing competitions, Kota Factory brilliantly showcases the dark reality of institutional dream-selling and lopsided education system.

2. Flames Season 2

Platform: MX Player/TVFPlay

Star Cast: Ritvik Sahore, Tanya Maniktala, Sunakshi Grover, Shivam Kakar, Deepesh Sumitra Jagdish

Director: Apoorv Singh Karki

Number of Episodes: 5

Our Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Flames Season 2

While the first season dealt with the journey from infatuation to dating crush, the second season of the romantic drama navigates through relationships with parents and working ways to a career. Like the first season, Flames 2 gives you a dose of nostalgia and sweet high school memories of teenage romance.

1. The Family Man

Platform: Amazon Prime

Star Cast: Manoj Bajpayee, Priyamani, Sharib Hashmi, Neeraj Madhav, Pawan Chopra, Kishore Kumar, Gul Panag

Directors: Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K.

Number of Episodes: 10

Our Rating: 4.5 out of 5

The Family Man

On the number one spot of our list is The Family Man which gives us an edgy action drama revolving around the life of a middle-class man who is secretly working for a special cell of the National Investigation Agency and trying to balance his responsibilities on professional and personal fronts. The performances of the lead cast are just as gripping as the storyline of the series and the show deserves the top spot.
