The most awaited moment is finally here for all the die heart fans of 2011’s Pakistani show ‘Humsafar’s’ star couple Asher-Khirad a.k.a Fawad Afzal Khan and Mahira Khan. The two stars are all geared up to set the screen ablaze yet again after 8 years in their upcoming Bilal Lashari’s much delayed period action drama ‘The Legend Of Maula Jatt’.
The official first look trailer of the movie was released on Friday, 21st December, which also happens to be the leading lady Mahira’s birthday. The 2 minute and 23 seconds long trailer is high on production and aesthetics, making it a very wholesome and compelling trailer. It is a homage to Younis Malik’s Maula Jatt made in 1979 that traces the story of a local prisoner who becomes the hero of his village as he takes on a brutal gang leader.
The 2019 movie is going to be an entirely different depiction of the old movie with just the core story retained. The production, action, writing, character sketches, execution will be entirely different from the previous one.
In the trailer, Fawad who plays the titular role can be seen in a more long haired, beefed up, intense, angry avatar, totally in contrast with all the characters he has been seen playing till date. Whereas, Hamza Ali Abbasi who plays the antagonist Noori Nath is in his most devious and wackiest avatar ever. The movie is centered around mainly these two characters- Maula and Noori. There are also pivotal flashes of Mahira and Humaima’s characters sharing intimate screen space with Khan, which shall be interesting to see in this narrative.
The ‘Waar’ director, started scripting of the movie in the year 2013 and finished it in 2014. This would be Fawad’s second Pakistani movie post 2007’s ‘Khuda Ke Liye’. The movie also stars Ali Azmat, Gohar Rasheed, Shafqat Cheema, Nayyer Ejaz, Saima Baloch and Faris Shafi.
One of the most expensive movie’s of 2019, the movie set to be a Eid release, will be releasing in Punjabi, Urdu and English. It will hit the Pakistani and China theatres simultaneously in June 2019. This is going to be a great Eidi for the fans of the respective actors.
For the Indian fans, they would have to wait for some online streaming channel like ‘Netflix’ to put up the movie, just like they did with Ali Zafar’s 2018 Pakistani blockbuster ‘Teefa In Trouble’.
