With change in time and taste of audience, the main stream Indian cinema is also expanding its dimension. The upcoming movie ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ based on the real life of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is all up to expose the reasons behind some crucial decisions that held the potential to create havoc in the nation.

The makers have released the first trailer of this highly anticipated movie establishing Anupam Kher as Manmohan Singh and Akshay Khanna essaying the role of Sanjay Baru who was the media advisor of former Prime Minister during his tenure from 2004 to 2014. The movie has been build up on the memoir written by Sanjay Baru himself with the same title in 2014 and has been helmed  by debutant Vijay Ratnakar Gutte.

The political drama movie deals with the political agenda of Manmohan singh and his troubled relationship with the Indian National Congress leader Sonia Gandhi which has been played by  German born Indian movie actress Suzanne Bernert.

The trailer also suggests how Sonia’s severe interference perplexed the functioning of Dr. Manmohan in attempt to make her son Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister. The trailer also portrays the other significant characters like Arjun Mathur as Rahul Gandhi, Aahana Kumar as Priyanka Gandhi, Divya Seth Shah’s  as Manmohan’s Wife Gursharan Kaur and Ram Avatar Bhardwaj as Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Produced by Bohra Brothers and  Hansal Mehta as creative producer, best known for his ventures like ‘Citylights’, ‘Shahid’ and ‘Aligarh’, the trailer has created a stir on social media and within the political parties as well.

The movie is slated to release on 11 January, few months before the momentous  2019 elections. ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ will face the clash at the box-office with Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam’s surgical strike based movie ‘URI’ which is releasing on the same date.
