Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and production banner, Fox Star India, had been going hand in hand for several years but their collaborations in the past decade haven’t been successful. While Coronavirus wrecked the entire entertainment industry, Karan Johar’s magnum opus period drama, Takht, took the hardest hit.
Just a while ago, makers of the period drama released a short teaser and unveiled the logo of the movie along with the principal cast. However, the project hit the back-burner when the viral outbreak started to get a grip in India and major film bodies announced a suspension of shootings. While the movie has an ensemble cast, rescheduling of their projects made it hard for the makers of Takht to get back their combined dates again.
While many suggested that Takht might get scraped amid the Coronavirus pandemic, the latest update is that co-production banner, Fox Star India, has pulled its contract from Karan Johar’s dream project. Fox Star India has been struggling with their financial outings in Bollywood lately as its last few projects turned out to be a dud at the box office. Following the loss due to Coronavirus, the production banner has decided to stay low and not invest heavily in uncertain projects including Karan Johar’s Takht.
Meanwhile, we still await official confirmation on the end of a collaboration between Karan Johar and Fox Star India, the fate of Takht is definitely uncertain now.
