A biopic of Swatantra Veer Savarkar was announced on his 138th birth anniversary and since then the project has been one of the most anticipated ones. To be helmed by celebrated director Mahesh Manjrekar, the biopic is currently in the planning phase and the makers are eyeing three top actors known for their acting potential to portray the freedom fighter.
According to a source close to the development of the movie, the makers have three top actors in mind who can undergo the required transformation to mirror the great personality of Veer Savarkar as realistically as possible. Randeep Hooda has time and again shown his versatility in the movies and body transformations and is one of the top contenders to bag the role.
On the other hand, Rajkummar Rao has proved his acting potential as well as underwent extreme weight loss for the movie Trapped. Ayushmann Khurrana has also been the top choice for playing such characters and also have shown his comfort in imbibing different accents in his movies.
While the three actors are best suited to play the onscreen Veer Savarkar, the makers are yet to finalize the lead and the rest of the crew before they begin the pre-production for the movie. The biopic is said to be shot across London, Andamans and Maharashtra with Mahesh Manjrekar helming the project.
