The Sushant Singh Rajput suicide case has been taking unexpected turns for the longest and even after months of CBI investigation, no conclusion has been announced by the crime agency. While the alleged prime suspect, Rhea Chakraborty, spent almost a month in prison for procuring drugs in relation to the Sushant’s case, she filed an FIR against the sisters of the late actor.
Rhea Chakraborty filed an FIR against Priyanka Singh and Meetu Singh accusing them of illegally obtaining medicines for Sushant, days before his death by suicide. While the actress’ lawyer stood firm for the filed case, the sisters have issued a statement through their advocate Madhav Thorat. In their rejoinder, Sushant’s sisters say that the FIR was filed ‘maliciously’ in an attempt to ‘wreak vengeance’. “This is a classic case of malicious prosecution where the unsubstantiated and baseless allegations do not disclose the commission of any offence,” it said.
On Tuesday, Mumbai Police submitted an affidavit in the Bombay High Court seeking dismissal of the petition filed by Priyanka and Meetu to dismiss the case against them. The affidavit stressed that “a fake medical prescription was sent by the petitioners with the help of a Delhi-based doctor wherein medicines for anxiety were prescribed to Rajput” and claimed that these medicines might have contributed to the alleged suicide of the actor.
