With the advent of OTT platforms in India, the entire entertainment industry has changed, especially when it comes to filmmaking. While the web has become so popular in the last year, many Bollywood A-listers have made their way to the digital platforms. However, there are few who are not comfortable with their movies being released on OTT platforms.

Recently, Sushant Singh Rajput and Jacqueline Fernandez starrer high-speed actioner Drive was released exclusively on the OTT platform Netflix but seems like the lead actor is not happy with the decision. Helmed by Tarun Mansukhani, the movie was earlier planned for a theatre release but missed numerous release dates due to incomplete VFX. In the end, the makers skipped the theatrical release and decided to put the movie on Netflix.

Sushant Singh Rajput, however, wasn’t happy with the decision and pulled himself out from the promotions and marketing of the project. A source close to the actor suggests that he lost interest in the movie after delays in the release and later sorting out to the digital release. Now the actor has added a special clause to his contract that might be of concern to the filmmakers.

Sushant Singh Rajput, along with Saif Ali Khan, has added a contractual pointer that if the makers plan to release the movie on the web, then they have to mention the same beforehand. While the Sushant Singh Rajput faced criticism over Drive, Saif Ali Khan has his share of experience.

Laal Kaptaan, starring Saif Ali Khan in the lead, too faced numerous delays in its release date. The revenge-drama was earlier slated to a release on 6 September but later postponed to 11 October. However, the movie finally had a theatrical release on 18 October and faced tough competition from other biggies due to sudden shifts in the release dates.

While Saif Ali Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput have made it very clear that they want their movies to be released on the promised date, it will be interesting to see the makers’ take on this.
