After the success of romantic drama ‘Kedarnath’ actor Sushant Singh Rajput will now soon be seen in a not a boy next door character, but in an entirely new avatar in his upcoming gritty tale of dacoits ‘Sonchiriya’.
Directed by Abhishek Chaubey, the movie released its trailer recently featuring Sushant Singh Rajput along with Manoj Bajpayee, Bhumi Pednekar, Ashutosh Rana and Ranvir Shorey in prominent characters.
Set in the backdrop of 1970’s in the terrorised stretch of Chambal valley, the trailer strongly suggests the plot of the movie which is developed around the ruthless gang war of dacoits trying to expand their terror throughout the riverine while dealing with the police and government on the other side.
Sushant shedding off his boy next door image will be essaying the character of a dacoit who becomes a rebel going against his own gang members for a cause. Opening into the dry and dreaded region of Chambal, the trailer introduces us to Manoj as ‘Man Singh’, Ranvir a part of the dacoit gang, Ashutosh Rana as the menacing cop and Bhumi who is paired opposite Sushant as a badass fiery woman sans vanity.
In his scrumpy beard and Khaki clothes, Sushant is looking all intense and fierce. It is the very first time when the actor is going to be seen in such a character on screen. Talking of the same we have already seen Bajpayee playing such dark and intense roles in movies like Bandit Queen, Gangs of Waasseypur 1, Gangs of Wasseypur 2 etc.
The movie is made under the banner of Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP and the music has been scored by Vishal Bhardwaj. Sonchiriya is all set to hit the screens on 8 February 2019.
