After almost two years of desolation at the theatres, the cinema owners had a gala time with recent movie releases like Spider-Man: No Way Home, Pushpa, Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, and 83 amongst a few others. However, just when the cinema industry was getting back into business, a steep rise in fresh COVID-19 cases shattered their ambitions. With the scare of a third wave, many governments announced restrictions and the Delhi government announced a shutdown of theatres. Following the announcement, filmmakers started to roll back their movie releases and Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathan is the latest edition.
Ever since the new curbs have been announced, filmmakers have put a halt on their movie releases and many big banner movies were called off from having a theatrical release. Movies like Shahid Kapoor starrer Jersey and SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus, RRR, have been postponed owing to the restrictions at the movie theatres across the country. Shah Rukh Khan, who is returning to the big screen after a sabbatical with his ambitious project, Pathan, seems to have deviated from its scheduled release as well.
As per the reports, Shah Rukh Khan starrer is currently being shot in Spain but the increasing Coronavirus threat has turned out to be a roadblock in the filming schedule. The portion of the movie was due for completion in October but it was postponed due to Shah Rukh Khan’s personal matter and now the scare of the third wave of Coronavirus pandemic has forced the filmmakers to halt the project. The makers are now planning to push the shoot to February if the situation normalizes. Either the case, the movie release will be postponed due to unforeseen circumstances.
Helmed by Siddharth Anand, Pathan brings together Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone after a long time and the movie also features Salman Khan in a short but important cameo character. The movie also stars John Abraham, Dimple Kapadia and Ashutosh Rana in the key roles.
