Featuring the story of the Indian stockbroker Harshad Mehta, SonyLIV’s web-series, Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story, created a trend in social media with its curious and dark story. Following the success of the 10-episode thriller series, the makers have announced a second season to the Scam franchise which will highlight another intriguing scam in the country dating back to 2003.

Featuring the story of the 2003 Stamp Paper Scam by Abdul Karim Telgi, SonyLIV, Applause Entertainment, and filmmaker Hansal Mehta will be reuniting for the second season, Scam 2003: The Curious Case of Abdul Karim Telgi. The show will be based on the Hindi book, Reporter Ki Diary, penned by journalist Sanjay Singh who exposed the scam with an estimated value of INR 20,000 crore.

Sharing the excitement to work on the project, filmmaker Hansal Mehta said, “I am delighted to be back with exploring yet another fascinating story following the immense success of Scam 1992. The new season of this franchise will focus on another riveting story that shook the country a few years ago – the stamp paper scam.”

Sanjay Singh has started working on the script of the web-series with Kiran Yadnyopavit, known for his contribution to the Marathi film industry. To be helmed by Hansal Mehta, the second season of Scam is expected to go on the floors by the last quarter of the year.
