The live-action movie of the comic book based supervillain Venom had an unexpected run at the box office with American actor Tom Hardy headlining the project and the success of the antihero movie earned him a sequel with a Venom universe. While the actor had a cameo in the recent Spider-Man: Far From Home release, the fans may rejoice as Tom Hardy will be returning with a full-fledged Venom movie.
At the recent CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Sony Pictures came with many surprises and announced many unexpected projects. While the debut of pop star Bad Bunny as the comic-book based anti-hero El Muerto came as a surprise, the production house has another surprise for the Venom and Spider-Man universe fans. A third instalment to the much popular Venom franchise was announced at the CinemaCon 2022 with Tom Hardy reprising his character of the antihero symbiote, Venom.
The confirmation for Venom 3 came as a brief glimpse of the movie’s logo in the closing CinemaCon reel where the studio’s upcoming projects were revealed. While there has been no confirmation on the team for the third instalment to the solo franchise, Tom Hardy is speculated to return as Eddie Brock aka Venom. The movie is reportedly slated for a release in 2024 as the production is yet to begin. Venom is also expected to merge with the MCU’s multiverse and pose a threat to Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.
