Bollywood actor Sonu Sood has been one of the most popular celebrities for his philanthropic works ever since the Coronavirus pandemic made its way to India and was in the headlines for all good reasons. However, the actor recently faced troubles when the Income Tax department raided his residence for three days in a row and accused him of tax evasion.

The tax department has recently issued a statement that Sonu Sood has evaded over 20 crores INR in taxes and the actor took to his social media handle to share his side of the story. Sonu shared a post on his Instagram early this morning (Monday) to share that he has pledged to help the people of the country. “Every rupee in my foundation is awaiting its turn to save a precious life and reach the needy,” his post reads. Meanwhile, he also opened up on the raids conducted at his residence in a media interview.

Talking to NDTV, Sonu Sood opened up on the ongoing controversy on his name and said that he is a law-abiding citizen of the country. “Whatever documents, details they asked for, we gave. Whatever questions they asked, I answered. I did my part, they did theirs. We answered every one of them with documents. That’s my duty. We are still providing documents…it is part of the process,” he said while insisting that officials were happy with the documentation.

“I asked them have you ever seen such kind of documentation, details, paperwork? They said no. They said it was the smoothest four days of raids for them,” the actor further mentioned.
