One of the most successful music composer and Oscar-winner AR Rahman recently opened up on the bullying in Hindi film industry for not allowing him to work. While the musician was applauded for his bold comments, filmmaker Shekhar Kapur and musician Resul Pookutty have joined him and echoed his opinions.

In a recent interview, AR Rahman expressed his experiences in the Bollywood industry post-winning prestigious Oscar award and explained the reason for doing fewer Hindi-language movies. “I don’t say no to good movies, but I think there is a gang, which, due to misunderstandings, is spreading some false rumours. People are expecting me to do stuff, but there is another gang of people preventing that from happening,” the ace music composer stated that there is a gang that prevents him from doing movies.

Echoing to his sentiments, another musician Resul Pookutty who won an Oscar for best sound mixing for Slumdog Millionaire took to his Twitter handle to share similar experiences. “I had gone through near breakdown as nobody was giving me work in Hindi films and regional cinema held me tight after I won the Oscar… There were production houses told me at my face ”we don’t need you” but still I love my industry for it,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, filmmaker Shekhar Kapur also reacted to AR Rahman’s interview and tweeted, “You know what your problem is @arrahman? You went and got #Oscars. An Oscar is the kiss of death in Bollywood. It proves you have more talent than Bollywood can handle.” Shekhar Kapur has also been vocal against nepotism in Bollywood after the unfortunate and untimely demise of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
