The legendary Indian superhero Shaktimaan is making a powerful comeback — not on TV or the big screen, but in a format tailor-made for today’s digital-savvy audience. Actor Mukesh Khanna, who famously portrayed the iconic character in the late ’90s and early 2000s, is bringing Shaktimaan to life once again in a brand-new audio series, exclusively on Pocket FM.

This revival is being produced in collaboration with Khanna’s own production house, Bheeshma International. Unlike the original TV series, the audio version promises a fresh storyline set in a modern universe, designed to appeal to both nostalgic fans and a new generation of listeners.

“Shaktimaan isn’t just a show — it’s an emotion that lives in the hearts of millions,” Khanna shared in a statement. “I’m excited to return as the voice of our beloved hero and connect with young listeners across India. Pocket FM is the perfect platform to reintroduce Shaktimaan’s strength, values, and superpowers through stories this generation loves.”

Originally aired on Doordarshan from 1997 to 2005, Shaktimaan became a cultural phenomenon, admired for its strong emphasis on moral values and social responsibility. The series holds a special place in the history of Indian television.

In a recent chat with ANI, Khanna opened up about the return of his iconic alter ego and the relevance of the character today. “What I began in 1997 was more than just entertainment — it was a mission. And that mission continues,” he said. “Today’s youth are moving forward without pause — they need someone to remind them to slow down and reflect.”

This audio reboot follows earlier buzz around a live-action Shaktimaan film reportedly being developed by Sony Pictures. Khanna quickly dismissed rumours of Ranveer Singh being cast in the lead, clarifying that no such casting was confirmed.

Whether it’s through speakers or screens, Shaktimaan is ready to inspire once again — this time, one voice note at a time.
