After the humongous success of Kabir Singh, Shahid Kapoor has reclaimed his superstar status and his fans have been eagerly waiting to see him back in action. His next release, Jersey, has been one of the most anticipated upcoming movies in Bollywood and the movie was slated for a release this Friday. However, given the craze for Yash’s K.G.F: Chapter 2 which is releasing on April 14, the makers have decided to postpone the movie by a week and have a solo release instead.
Announcing the new release date for the sports drama, producer Aman Gill said, “As a team, we have put our blood sweat and tears into Jersey and would like our beloved film to reach all of you in the widest possible way. Jersey will now release on 22nd April.” Earlier, the movie was scheduled for a pan-India release on 14th April and was going head-on with the sequel to the blockbuster crime thriller, K.G.F: Chapter 1. The clash was likely to damage the collections of the Shahid Kapoor starrer and hence the producer decided to give it a fair chance at the box office with a solo release.
Helmed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, Jersey is a Hindi remake of the Telugu superhit of the same name which featured Nani as the protagonist. The story of the celebration of an underdog’s triumph, the Hindi remake stars Shahid Kapoor in the lead alongside Mrunal Thakur, Pankaj Kapur, and Ronit Kamra in the key roles.
