Shahid Kapoor had been celebrating lately as his romantic drama, Kabir Singh, alongside Kiara Advani turned out to be blockbuster and went on to collect a whopping 280 crore INR at the box office. While the Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial received critical acclamation for Shahid Kapoor’s performance, it also got surrounded by numerous controversies because of its toxic masculinity plotline.
Meanwhile, the lead actor opened up to his views on the controversies associated with his movie and said that Kabir Singh was targetted for no reason. He also mentioned that Sanjay Dutt starrer Sanju dealt with an equally controversial storyline but it was still celebrated. While Shahid Kapoor was assured that he wouldn’t be receiving any awards for the Arjun Reddy remake, as per the reports, he was promised the Best Actor Popular Award at a recent Award Show.
Shahid Kapoor had also rehearsed for a performance at the award night with the understanding that he would be taking the award home with him but the organizers had a last-minute call and instead of Shahid Kapoor, the award was presented to Ranveer Singh. According to a source close to the awards show, Shahid Kapoor was reportedly upset with the decision and he walked out of the awards night without performing his prepared stint.
While the actor or the organizer has not opened up on the rumours, the award show will be telecasted on the television soon without Shahid Kapoor’s performance. On the work front, Shahid Kapoor is busy shooting for his next which is a Hindi remake of Nani starrer sports drama, Jersey.
