Shah Rukh Khan has reportedly stepped away from a cameo appearance in Jailer 2, choosing instead to dedicate his complete attention to his upcoming film King. The actor was initially open to the idea, but eventually opted out due to scheduling priorities and creative considerations.
According to reports, the makers of Jailer 2 had approached Shah Rukh Khan for a brief five-day cameo. While discussions were positive in the early stages, the actor decided not to go ahead as King currently remains his top priority. The film holds special significance for him as it marks the big-screen debut of his daughter, Suhana Khan.
One of the key reasons behind his decision was maintaining exclusivity around his look and character in King. Shah Rukh reportedly wanted to avoid appearing in a similar avatar in another film before its release. He even explored the possibility of adjusting Jailer 2’s release timeline to follow King, but with the two films planned months apart, it did not work out.
Jailer 2 is expected to target an August release window, while King is slated to arrive in theatres in December 2026. With both projects operating on different timelines, the cameo was dropped through a mutual and amicable decision.
Despite this, Shah Rukh Khan continues to share a strong bond with Rajinikanth. It is said that he personally reached out to the veteran superstar, expressing his admiration and openness to collaborating in the future under better circumstances.
Directed by Siddharth Anand, King features Shah Rukh Khan alongside Suhana Khan, with Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, and Arshad Warsi in key roles. Meanwhile, Jailer 2, helmed by Nelson Dilipkumar, is nearing completion, with the makers now reportedly exploring another big name for the cameo role.
