Bollywood actor and global star Shah Rukh Khan was recently honoured at the prestigious Locarno Film Festival with the Pardo Alla Carriera award in Switzerland. The actor is the first Indian to receive the honour and be recognized for his significant contributions to global cinema, marking a proud moment for the Indian film industry.

During the ceremony held at the iconic Piazza Grande where over eight thousand attendees gathered to witness the actor’s heartfelt acceptance speech. In a media interaction with the news portal NDTV, the King of Bollywood reflected on returning to Switzerland after a long break to accept the prestigious award. Known for his witty behaviour, the actor humorously mentioned, “It’s a bit warmer here than usual. Normally, it’s cool and pleasant, like in Mumbai.”

Khan also expressed his fond memories in the country where he filmed many of his memorable movies with the late filmmaker Yash Chopra. Being nostalgic about filming in Switzerland in the 1990s, the actor recalled, “When I started off in the late 90s, to be here was a big thing. And now, when I come so many years later, people remember those things. Yeah, it’s very happy.”

Receiving the Pardo Alla Carriera award is a historic achievement for Shah Rukh Khan, as he became the first Indian actor to receive this honour at the Locarno Film Festival. Reflecting on this milestone, Khan expressed his admiration for the festival’s atmosphere. “I love the coziness of this place and the dignity with which they conduct the award ceremony. I’m very happy to be here and truly thrilled,” he said, expressing his gratitude for the recognition.
