In a shocking incident that took place in the suburban Andheri of Mumbai, the wife and daughter of film director Santosh Gupta killed themselves by setting themselves on fire. In the case under investigation, the mother and daughter set themselves on fire at their home in Mumbai.

As per the report, neighbours alerted the fire brigade after learning about the fire in Santosh Gupta’s home on Monday afternoon. The two were rushed to the nearby hospital where Gupta’s wife was declared dead on arrival while their daughter succumbed to her injuries at Airoli National Burns Centre the next day. The police have registered two different accidental death reports in the case and further investigation is underway.

Santosh Gupta is best known for directing low-budgeted movies like FaraarRomi The Hero, and Aaj Ki Aurat. The filmmaker lives in Mumbai’s DN Nagar with his family and his 55-year-old wife was reportedly suffering from a prolonged kidney ailment that led to killing herself. Their daughter reportedly killed herself due to the trauma.
