Alia Bhatt’s next crime drama, Gangubai Kathiawadi, has been in the spotlight for the longest and her fans are eagerly waiting for more details about the project with excitement. However, with the Coronavirus pandemic, all production activities were suspended for months due to the imposed lockdown by the government. After several months and with some relaxations, the makers of Gangubai Kathiawadi decided to get back on track.

After many discussions between the filmmaker and the lead cast, the makers decided to resume shooting of the crime drama with strict precautionary measures in place. As per the sources, the Gangubai Kathiawadi team restarted shooting with just 50 crewmembers at the Film City. Each member was following proper precautionary protocols and kept masks on all the time except when facing the camera. Even Alia Bhatt and co-actor Shantanu Maheshwari maintained a cordial distance when not shooting.

Earlier, huge sets of the movie were demolished due to uncertainty of events. The makers considered rebuilding the sets cheaper than paying for the rent for months with no action taking place. Recently, a small set was prepared and sanitized to shoot sequences with Alia Bhatt in the titular character. Helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Gangubai Kathiawadi is expected to release next year if shooting doesn’t get halted again.
