Indian actor Salman Khan enjoys a great fan following across the world but the insane popularity also attracts some unwanted elements. While the megastar has a history of criminal charges against him, he and his father, Salim Khan, received a threat letter days after the broad daylight murder of Punjabi singer, Sidhu Moosewla, in May.
Following the death threat, the security of the megastar and his family was tightened and Salman Khan paid a ‘courtesy visit’ to Mumbai Police Commissioner’s office. However, the reports also allege that the actor has submitted an application to Mumbai Police seeking a weapon licence for personal protection. And, according to the reports, his recent visit to the headquarters was in the context of the license.
The Mumbai Police probing the matter had said the threat letter was a publicity stunt by Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang. The threat was given at the behest of Vikram Barad, an associate of Bishnoi, who is currently based in Canada, as per officials.
Earlier, gangster Lawrence Bishnoi had threatened to kill Salman Khan for the poaching of a blackbuck, considered sacred by his community.
