The Bombay High Court has dismissed a private complaint against actor Salman Khan and his bodyguard Nawaz Shaikh for alleged criminal intimidation. The complaint was filed by journalist Ashok Pandey in 2019, claiming that he was manhandled and his phone was snatched away after Khan objected to his filming of the actor while cycling on the streets of Mumbai.
As per reports, Khan was summoned by a metropolitan court in Andheri before the case was challenged in the High Court. During proceedings, Justice Bharati Dangre questioned the complainant and asked if the proper procedures were followed before the process was issued.
Senior advocate Aabad Ponda argued that Khan had only asked Shaikh to stop Pandey from taking his photos. The High Court had earlier stayed the summons under Justice Revati Mohite Dere, citing improvements in Pandey’s statement and mentioning that as a journalist, he would not have remained silent about his allegations in his initial complaint.
The complaint filed by Pandey sought criminal action against Khan and his bodyguard, but the court proceedings have now cleared the actor of all charges. Salman Khan has two upcoming projects in the pipeline, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Jaan and Yash Raj Films’ Tiger 3 co-starring Katrina Kaif.
