Indian actor Saif Ali Khan is currently enjoying his peace with his family in Mumbai but his recent outing with Hrithik Roshan, Vikram Vedha, failed to live up to the box office expectations and the actor has finally opened up on the reasons.
The Hindi remake of the popular Tamil-language neo-noir action thriller film by the same name garnered ample curiosity but failed to attract the audience to the ticket counters. In a recent media interaction, Saif Ali Khan, who played the protagonist in the movie, candidly expressed his opinion regarding the poor performances of Bollywood movies. Saif Ali Khan was quoted saying, “The reason we should be very polite to each other is because nobody has any clue of what works and doesn’t work.”
He further added that the actors are charging enormously for the movies and the makers are not getting the same returns from the movies. “I have no idea but something is happening. People will continue to make movies. Prices will keep fluctuating because our pricing, some of it, is insane. We pay people astronomically and the returns have been not good,” he added.
Saif also shared some statistics and mentioned that only 2% of the entire population of the country goes to theatres to watch movies and “it could make it a wealthy industry” if the number increases to 20%.
Helmed by the director’s duo Pushkar-Gayathri, Vikram Vedha featured Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan pitted against each other in intense larger-than-life storytelling. The movie also stars Radhika Apte, Rohit Saraf, Yogita Bihani, and Satyadeep Mishra amongst others in key roles.
