While Bunty Aur Babli was a blockbuster and had Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukerji in the leads, after one and a half-decade, the makers are keen on expanding the franchise with a second instalment. It was earlier announced that the makers have found a fresh cast for the sequel in Gully Boy fame Siddhant Chaturvedi and debutante Sharvari Wagh. However, the latest report has it that Rani Mukerji will be reprising her character in Bunty Aur Babli 2, while Saif Ali Khan will be replacing Abhishek Bachchan.

Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji will be reuniting on the big screen after 11 years and we expect the same chemistry from them as we saw in blockbuster movies like Hum Tum and Ta Ra Rum Pum. The sequel is said to be having a time leap of a decade with two conmen couples. While Rani Mukerji and Saif Ali Khan will be donning the original Bunty Aur Babli, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Sharvari Wagh will be the fresh pair to watch out for.

Sharing the excitement to be back home at Yash Raj Films, Said Ali Khan said, “Bunty Aur Babli 2 is a completely rebooted sequel and is set in today’s time. It is a fantastic script that hooked me on instantly. It is an out and out entertainer for the entire family to sit and enjoy and this is what I loved and connected with.”

On the other, Rani Mukerji expressed her share of excitement for the sequel and said that Abhishek Bachchan was approached to reprise his character but things didn’t work out with him and he would be missed in the team. “As a team, we are so happy to welcome Saif. I have lovely memories of working with him and I’m really looking forward to creating something new and exciting with him in Bunty Aur Babli 2,” said the actress.

Helmed by Varun Sharma, Bunty Aur Babli 2 is on the floor and started shooting its first schedule. Now that the entire cast has been confirmed, the movie is expected to release on the big screen in the third quarter of 2020.
