Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur starrer sequel to the blockbuster Sadak was announced to premiere directly on the OTT platform, Disney+ Hotstar, and the actress took to her social media handle to announce the release date today. Helmed by Mahesh Bhatt, the movie is said to be a follow-up story of the original drama and the actor will be reprising their characters in the much-anticipated sequel.

Taking to micro-blogging website, Alia Bhatt shared a fresh poster of her upcoming movie, Sadak 2, as she announced the release date of the same. “Sadak 2, the road to love streaming on @DisneyPlusHotstarVIP from 28 August,” Alia Bhatt wrote in her tweet as she informed her fans about the update. While the movie was earlier planned to release traditionally in the theatres, the ongoing Coronavirus crisis led the makers to take the call and sell the rights to the OTT platform.

Earlier Alia Bhatt had expressed her excitement for the movie and said that the sequel to Sadak is very close to her heart. The actress also mentioned that Sadak was the first movie in which she worked with her father, Mahesh Bhatt, and working again with him in the sequel of the same movie is a ‘dream come true’ for her. “It has a very new but relevant emotional pulse, with an amazing cast. Working with Aditya, Sanjay Dutt and Pooja has been magical,” she added. Talking about the OTT release, the actress further said, “These are extraordinary and difficult times and all of us are trying to get through it, taking each day at a time. My father always says that a filmmaker’s destination is the audience’s heart. Disney+ Hotstar VIP gives us that opportunity to connect with our audience all across the country.”

Helmed by Mahesh Bhatt, Sadak 2 stars Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur as the lead pair while Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt will reprise their characters from the first instalment of the franchise. The movie also stars Jisshu Sengupta, Makarand Deshpande, Gulshan Grover, and Priyanka Bose in prominent characters.
