Rohit Shetty, the powerhouse behind Bollywood’s high-octane action flicks, is rumoured to be diving into an unexpected new territory — horror! According to a report by Mid-Day, Shetty is planning a supernatural film with Chhorii star Nushrratt Bharuccha in the lead.
The report suggests that Shetty has been toying with the idea of directing a horror film for over a year. A source close to the development revealed, “Rohit has always gravitated towards stories that strike an emotional chord. Horror, much like action, elicits a strong reaction from the audience. He believes Nushrratt is perfect for the role — her performance in Chhorii proved she can bring both vulnerability and grit to a horror narrative.”
The project was reportedly set to be helmed by E Niwas, known for hard-hitting films like Shool and Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega. The team was aiming to create a grounded and eerie horror film, steering clear of over-the-top scares and focusing instead on atmospheric tension.
However, just as excitement started brewing, Shetty’s production house stepped in to clear the air. In an official statement, the team firmly denied the rumours:
“A story is doing the rounds claiming that Rohit Shetty is working on a horror film with Nushrratt Bharuccha and E Niwas. This news is completely false and baseless. We request the media to kindly reach out to us for verification before rehashing or publishing any stories related to Rohit Shetty or his production house to avoid the circulation of inaccurate news.”
So, while the idea of Rohit Shetty stepping into horror sounds thrilling, fans will have to wait and see if there’s any truth to the whispers — or if it’s all just smoke and mirrors.
