Television and Hindi cinema actor Rohit Roy is a well known personality in the entertainment industry. Popularly known for television shows ‘Swabhimaan’ and ‘Virasat’, the actor is soon going to debut in regional cinema with a Gujarati movie ‘I.M.A Gujju’.
Produced by E3 Productions, the film is based on the life of a disgraced soldier played by Rohit and his student played by Sunny Pancholi, who has also written and directed the movie, with Indian Military Academy as the backdrop. The film is a tribute to Army and its soldiers. The movie also stars television, theater and film personality Manoj Joshi in a pivotal role.
In the movie, Rohit will be seen playing the character of Lt. Col. Siddhraj Sinh Jhala, an officer in the Indian Army. This would be his third Army based project post J.P Dutta’s ‘LOC Kargil’, the other one being ‘Paltan’ by the same director where he will be seen in a brief role, releasing on 7th September 2018.
The actor has been shooting for the movie extensively in Ahmedabad, which is also the place where he lived his formative years and completed his education before moving to Mumbai. He might be a Bengali by birth, but most of his growing up years have been spent in Ahmedabad. Also, his wife and actor Mansi Joshi is a Gujarati too. In a way this movie is like home coming for Rohit.
Rohit was last seen in a villainous role along side his real brother actor Ronit Roy in Hrithik Roshan starrer ‘Kaabil’ in 2017. ‘I.M.A Gujju’ is set to release soon in September this year.
