The entire world is taking a rest in response to the deadly Coronavirus and every sector is equally affected by the pandemic. While the box office stooped its lowest in March, the Indian entertainment industry is shut in order to contain the viral outbreak. Amid the Coronavirus scare, Ranveer Singh starrer sports-drama, 83, joined the bandwagon as the makers announced postpone of its release.
The sports drama, 83, based on the legendary win of the Indian cricket team led by Kapil Dev at the 1983 World Cup, is one of the highly-anticipated movies of the year. Starring Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles, the Kabir Khan directorial was earlier scheduled to release on the 10th of April but the recent global threat has made the makers postpone the release of the movie.
Making an official announcement of the same, actor Ranveer Singh took to his social media handle and wrote, “83 is not just our film but the entire nation’s film. But the health and safety of the nation always comes first. Stay safe, take care. We shall be back soon,” as he shared a statement from the team of 83.
The statement shared by the makers of the upcoming movie read, “In the wake of the risks posed by the recent outbreak of COVID-19 and the growing health concerns, the release of 83 has been put on hold. We will take a decision regarding the next course of action once the conditions return to normal. We urge our fans to take all the necessary precautions and take care of their loved ones. 83 is a film about fighting the odds and we hope we all will bounce back from this soon. With Love, Team.”
