The insanely popular Dhoom franchise by YRF is officially making a comeback after over a decade, with Dhoom 4 in the works. Fans have eagerly awaited the revival of the action-packed series, and now there’s confirmation that Ranbir Kapoor will headline the new instalment. However, the reboot comes with a twist – Dhoom 4 will not feature franchise regulars Abhishek Bachchan as Inspector Jay or Uday Chopra as his sidekick, Ali.

According to a recent Pinkvilla report, Dhoom 4 is currently in the scripting stage and the makers have decided to reboot the franchise to align it with modern cinema. Aditya Chopra and Vijay Krishna Acharya are presently working on the script for the fourth instalment of the action thriller and it is likely to start a new era in the Dhoom series.

The source also confirmed that Ranbir Kapoor has officially come on board after expressing interest in the project for quite some time. “Ranbir had always shown excitement about being a part of Dhoom 4 since hearing the initial concept, and now it’s confirmed. Aditya Chopra believes that Ranbir is the perfect fit to carry forward the Dhoom legacy,” the source added.

This reboot is expected to feature a fresh storyline and new actors stepping into the roles of the investigative duo. “Two major actors from the younger generation will be cast as the new cop buddies in Dhoom 4. With the core story locked, the team will soon move forward with casting. The fourth Dhoom film is set to be not only the biggest of the series but also a global-level tentpole production from Indian cinema,” the source elaborated.

Interestingly, Dhoom 4 will mark Ranbir Kapoor’s 25th film, and he reportedly signed on for the project on his birthday, September 28. Following this action-packed role, Ranbir is set to work on Animal Park, a sequel to the 2023 blockbuster Animal directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. His future projects also include Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana trilogy and Love & War with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, co-starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal.
