After the Coronavirus pandemic engraved its roots in India in March, several film bodies announced a halt of shooting and production across the country in mid-March followed by a nationwide lockdown imposed by the government. The entire entertainment industry has been in impeccable solidarity to curb the spread of the deadly virus by avoiding all production activities. However, after the government issued some relaxations in the imposed lockdown, film productions have started making movements.
Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt starrer action-drama, Shamshera, had completed its principal shooting prior to the lockdown and the movie was in the post-production phase when the nationwide lockdown was imposed by the government. A source close to the development of the movie informs that the makers are in talks with Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt to carry out the patchwork with necessary precautionary measures in place.
As per the report, the shooting will take place in the YRF Studios in Mumbai in a short start to end schedule whilst strictly following the guidelines by the government for the safety of the crew. The team will also be limited in power to avoid unnecessary mass exposure. While the director Karan Malhotra had been working from home for the post-production of the movie, the makers are seeking permission from the Federation of Western India Cine Employees to let daily wage workers resume their work.
Helmed by Karan Malhotra, Shamshera stars Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt in prominent characters along with Vaani Kapoor playing the female lead. The actioner was slated to release on July 31 but was postponed in wake of the Coronavirus. While many filmmakers are premiering their movies on OTT platforms, YRF has been vocal for theatrical releases.
