Film producer Madhu Mantena announced a web series on the epic Ramayana a while ago and since then many big names have been rumoured to play key roles in the series. While it was earlier informed that Mahesh Babu had been approached to play Lord Ram but he had to turn down the offer due to date issues, the latest report suggests that we might see Ranbir Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan against each other in the Treta Yuga.

According to a source close to the development of the web series, the makers have approached Hrithik Roshan to play the mythological character of demon king, Raavan. However, the actor is yet to give his nod to the project. Hrithik was earlier offered a Hindi remake of the Telugu-language superhit fantasy action film, Magadheera, but he never accepted the offer. It will be interesting to see if he agrees to play the antagonist.

On the other hand, the makers have made a list of superstars who can be suited to play Lord Ram in the series after Mahesh Babu couldn’t give his dates. If reports are to be believed, Ranbir Kapoor is currently the producers’ favourite to play the protagonist but he has not been approached yet. Madhu Mantena had earlier informed us to expect the biggest cast in the epic saga and we can expect the announcement on Diwali.

In the crew, Nitesh Tiwari and Ravi Udyawar have been appointed to direct the series while Sridhar Raghavan will pen down the screenplay of the epic saga.
