Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta’s blockbuster film Koi Mil Gaya, released in 2003, was a turning point in both Hrithik and his father Rakesh Roshan’s careers. On its 20th anniversary in the industry, Rakesh Roshan recalled the risk he took with his son’s career.

In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Rakesh Roshan admitted being concerned about Hrithik’s career and the risk he was taking. However, as he began filming, his confidence grew, and he assured Hrithik, “We will hit it this time.”

After Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, Hrithik’s films were not performing well, making Rakesh Roshan anxious about the response to Koi Mil Gaya. Despite his worries, the film became a massive success at the box office, drawing houseful audiences during its initial days.

To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Koi Mil Gaya will be re-released in selected cinema halls across 30 cities in India on August 4. The film’s storyline revolves around Rohit, a character with mental disabilities, whose life changes after befriending an alien from the woods. Its success led to creation of two sequels – Krrish and Krrish 3.
