The much-awaited trailer of the spy thriller web series, The Family Man 2, was released recently with the promised release date. While the trailer was well received by the fans and the makers have already started prepping for a third season to the franchise, Rajya Sabha MP Vaiko demands a ban on the web series for hurting cultural and regional sentiments.
After the release of the trailer of The Family Man 2 featuring Manoj Bajpayee and Samantha Akkineni against each other, many praised the intense plot and the suspense. However, some section of the audience felt that the trailer and apparently the series puts Tamil people and culture in a bad light. Now Rajya Sabha MP has demanded a ban on the show and wrote a letter to the Information and Broadcasting Minister, Prakash Javadekar.
In his letter, Vaiko mentioned that the trailer of the series highlights Tamilians as terrorists and ISI agents having links with the neighbouring country, Pakistan. The letter further mentioned the sacrifices made by Tamil Eelam warriors are wrongly presented as terrorist acts in the trailer which hurts the sentiments of Tamilians and their culture. The MP has asked the I&B Ministry to ban the release of the show.
The makers of the show allegedly had postponed the release of the web series after many shows of the streaming giant, Amazon Prime Video got embroiled in controversies related to their content. However, the delay doesn’t seem to solve the problem faced by the digital content provider.
Created by director’s duo, Raj & DK, The Family Man 2 features Manoj Bajpayee, Sharib Hashmi, Priyamani, and Samantha Akkineni in key roles. The second season of the successful franchise is scheduled for streaming from 4 June exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
