A decade after its groundbreaking release, Kangana Ranaut’s celebrated film Queen is set to return with a sequel! Director Vikas Bahl has officially confirmed that the script for Queen 2 is locked and ready, ensuring the return of Ranaut in her role as Rani.

Originally released in 2014, Queen achieved sleeper-hit status, earning acclaim for its heartwarming narrative and resonating strongly with audiences. The empowering story of a young woman embarking on a solo honeymoon journey after a cancelled wedding made waves for its feminist themes. Over the years, Queen has become a cult favourite, prompting widespread discussions and fan anticipation for a sequel.

The much-anticipated sequel was officially announced by Bahl last year, and in an exclusive interview with News18 Showsha, he shared a crucial update—the script is now complete!

Expressing his excitement, Bahl acknowledges the challenge of meeting the high standards set by the original film. “Queen set the bar too high,” he confesses. “But I am happy to say that we have actually finished writing our story. So, yes, the sequel should happen.”

Bahl emphasizes that the decision to wait for a robust script wasn’t driven by financial considerations. “If I didn’t feel the pressure of matching up to expectations,” he asserts, “I would have already made it four years back just for money. But we were very sure that we won’t do it until we get a story that delivers as much as Queen did.”

March holds special significance for Bahl, as Queen celebrates its 10th anniversary on March 7. Additionally, his next film, Shaitaan, featuring R Madhavan, Ajay Devgn, and Jyothika, is set to release on March 9. Adding to the excitement, the second season of his web series Sunflower is scheduled to premiere on Zee5 on March 1.
