South Indian film industry is on a roll lately after the back to back humongous success of the Pan-India releases like RRR and K.G.F: Chapter 2. On the other hand, Hindi-language movies are taking a loss at the box office with low demand. While Pushpa: The Rise was a blockbuster and did equally great at the box office, a sequel to the same has been in high demand by the fans. Now that the makers are already planning on the second part and turning it into a franchise, the OTT giants have buckled up and fighting to acquire digital rights.

The Allu Arjun starrer was released in December last year followed by a digital premiere on the Amazon Prime Video. However, the other giant, Disney+ Hotstar is eyeing streaming the sequel to the successful movie. If reports are to be believed, the two streaming platforms are going neck to neck to acquire the rights and have offered a whopping amount to the makers. The news comes way before the filming of the movie begins and we can only expect what more is in the picture.

As per the sources close to the development of the movie, a deal is likely to be locked soon and an announcement will be made along with the anticipated release date of the movie. Pushpa: The Rise features Allu Arjun as the titular character along with Rashmika Mandanna, Fahadh Faasil, and Sunil in the key roles and we can expect many to reprise their characters in the sequel. However, there has been no confirmation from the makers so far.
