Akshay Kumar has been the busiest actor in the country for over a decade and he has been giving back to back movie releases despite the pandemic restrictions. While Akshay was recently seen in the theatrical outing, Sooryavanshi, and the digital release, Atrangi Re, his fans are all set to see him in the historical period drama, Prithviraj, with debutant Manushi Chillar. However, the increasing cases of the new Coronavirus variant and the third wave scare have put the makers into uncertainty.

The highly-anticipated movie is slated for a release on 21st January 2021 and a short teaser was released last month which was received positively by the fans. While the fans are waiting to see a movie on one of the greatest Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan on the big screens, the makers are monitoring the pandemic situation and might postpone the release.

The makers were to release a theatrical trailer today but given the recent developments in the country, the makers have currently skipped the event and pushed the trailer release for a few days. However, the source close to the development of the project claims that the trailer will be released before the year ends. On the other hand, there has been no official confirmation regarding the postponing of the movie but the current trend in the new COVID cases have indicated a possibility of a third wave. Yash Raj Films have waited for years to let the situation normalize before they release their movies and we might have to wait for more if newer restrictions are put in place.

Currently, many states have announced night curfews to contain the spread of the Omicron stain in the country and more states are expected to join the bandwagon near the New Year celebrations. If the new cases continue to escalate, we might experience stricter measures to curb the spread of the virus.
