While Ramadan brings in the season of modesty, it doesn’t fail to call for dressing up. International retailers, from Mango to Dior, have developed special Ramadan edits in the past but somehow these collections felt like a medium to cash in through deep cultural and religious significance.

Mango’s collections have been too causal for the festivities and Dolce & Gabbana’s modest collection seemed to have been created more for publicity. It led to a controversy among the fashion critics and the Italian fashion house was accused of appropriating from the Muslim culture rather than celebrating it.

According to the survey, 1.9 billion Muslims around the globe spend about €1.7 trillion across the Islamic economy, being modest fashion as the topmost priority. Looking at the current situation in the world and the previous year when the first wave of pandemic hit the world. The Arabs were still dressing up abiding by COVID-19 precautions.

Teaming in the Ramadan capsule collection bandwagon this year we have Italian Fashion House, Prada. The exclusive campaign which is titled ‘Reflections’ is said to have been shot in Dubai. A very modern but thoughtful take this collection celebrates Ramadan in its truest form. To understand the local culture for curating the collection, Prada worked with local creative talents. The line is minimalistic, true to the aesthetics of Prada’s luxurious fashion including accessories such as the iconic Prada Cleo bag, which is redesigned in new colours including desert-inspired sand and mules debuting in pastel shades and elegant sparkling crystal sandals ideal for iftars.

Reflections also consist of the patchwork Prada System and the most loved Prada Re-Edition for those patrons that wouldn’t want to drift away from the favourites. Adding the right pop of pastel to your wardrobe, scrunchies and sunnies in candy colours alongside nostalgic hair clips are adorable additions to the spring wardrobe. One can also look to add excitement to an all-black ensemble with metallic mini-pouch and embellished heels perfect
