The 2015 blockbuster Bajrangi Bhaijaan, starring Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and child actress Harshali Malhotra, won audiences over with its heartwarming tale of an unlikely friendship between an Indian man and a young Pakistani girl. Now, fans of the film can rejoice as a sequel titled Pawan Putra was announced last year.
However, there had been no news on the project until recently when it was revealed by sources that Salman Khan has brought on board Pooja Hegde for the film, replacing Kareena Kapoor Khan. It remains unclear whether Pooja will be playing the same character that Kareena portrayed in the first film.
Interestingly, Pooja Hegde is also the lead actress in Salman Khan’s upcoming release, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, directed by Farhad Samji, set to release in April this year, during Eid.
For those unfamiliar with Bajrangi Bhaijaan, the story revolved around a mute Pakistani girl named Munni (Harshali) who becomes separated from her mother during a religious trip to India. Salman’s character, a kind-hearted man named Bajrangi, takes it upon himself to reunite the girl with her mother in Pakistan. The film also starred Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the role of a Pakistani TV journalist named Chand Nawab.
