Fans of popular British period crime drama, Peaky Blinders, are eagerly waiting for the sixth season of the television series but unfortunately, it will also be the last season of the show. According to a confirmation made by Variety, the popular Birmingham notorious gang saga will be ending after the upcoming final season which is under production.
Talking to the magazine, show creator Steven Knight said, “After the enforced production delay due to the Covid pandemic, we find the family in extreme jeopardy and the stakes have never been higher.” While Steven assured that the final season will be the best of them all, he also teased that the story of the show will continue in another form which we suspect a reboot or a spin-off. “While the TV series will be coming to an end, the story will continue in another form,” Steven concluded.
The British drama, originally aired on BBC and currently streaming on the OTT giant Netflix, revolves around the life of a criminal family led by the notorious gang leader and ‘a dangerous man’, Tommy Shelby. Set in the 1900s England, the show is loosely based on a real urban youth gang of the same name. The first five seasons of the show are greatly loved by the fans for its complex plot and the Birmingham accent.
Created by Steven Knight, the crime drama series stars Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby with Paul Anderson, Annabelle Wallis, Tom Hardy, Joe Cole, and Helen McCrory among others in key roles.
