While wrapping up the final schedule of his upcoming horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla, Akshay Kumar spent his weekend in Kerala deep in creative discussions with OMG 2 director Amit Rai. The two used their time together during the film’s three-day song shoot as an opportunity to begin shaping the much-anticipated third chapter in the Oh My God series.
As per a report by Pinkvilla, Amit Rai accompanied Akshay during the shoot in Kerala, where they extensively discussed potential storylines for OMG 3. A source revealed, “Amit had several concepts in mind for the next instalment and took this time to present and refine them with Akshay. Their sessions involved a lot of back-and-forth on where the story could head next. The plan is to take the franchise forward in a meaningful way, with filming likely to begin in 2026.”
The two reportedly shared strong creative chemistry throughout the trip. While no script is finalised yet, Amit Rai is now working on an early draft that could serve as the foundation for the next courtroom social dramedy. The insider added, “After the success of both OMG and OMG 2, expectations are high. The team isn’t rushing anything — they want the narrative to honour the franchise while also bringing something new to the table.”
If development goes smoothly, OMG 3 is expected to begin production in the latter half of 2026. Casting will be locked in once the script is finalised, but the film will likely maintain the tone of its predecessors — mixing satire with hard-hitting social commentary in a courtroom drama format.
In the meantime, Akshay Kumar has wrapped shooting Bhooth Bangla, directed by Priyadarshan. The final leg included a song shoot with actress Wamiqa Gabbi, filmed across three days in Kerala. The horror-comedy is slated to hit theatres on April 2, 2026.
Up next, Akshay is set to begin filming a thriller — also directed by Priyadarshan and co-starring Saif Ali Khan — in August 2025. He’ll also appear in the much-awaited Housefull 5, which is set for release on June 6, 2025.
