After years of hard work, anticipation and manifestation, Dwayne Johnson starrer Black Adam finally released with its yearning to change the hierarchy of power in the DCEU. With the movie getting mostly positive responses from the early screenings and first-day shows, the fans rejoice with DCEU finally hearing what they want. However, Dwayne Johnson was not to make his DCEU debut with a standalone Black Adam movie.
For the unversed, the studio had Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson play the antihero comic book character as early as 2008. However, they were unsure where to introduce him in the timeline. The DC Extended Universe has been very scattered lately with multiple projects not aligning with a unanimous vision. The plan to introduce Dwayne as Black Adam has been put on the table multiple times over the past decade but it never materialized.
While many DC fans know that Black Adam was on the verge of debuting in Shazam and being pitted against the superhero, he was about to make a debut much earlier in the 2016 release Suicide Squad. As per the revelations made by partner producer Hiram Garcia, the idea was to bring Black Adam in the end credits and make a way. Hiram said, “There was talk of him being utilized right at the end of something, but it was just conversations and that was many regimes ago.”
However, with years of manifestation to get a standalone movie and not diluting his existence, Johnson finally got his DCEU debut with Black Adam and introduced many more exciting superhero characters with more to come.
