Ever since Stree struck gold in 2018, Dinesh Vijan’s horror-comedy universe has kept fans hooked. With Bhediya and Munjya adding more layers to the franchise, curiosity about what comes next is only growing stronger. The latest chatter suggested that Saiyaara actress Aneet Padda had been cast as the lead in Shakti Shalini, one of the upcoming supernatural comedies from Maddock Films.
Rumours claimed that Aneet had already completed a look test and even a photoshoot for the project. According to insiders, Vijan was keen on introducing fresh energy to the franchise and was particularly impressed by Aneet’s performance in Saiyaara. This led to speculation that Shakti Shalini could be centred around her.
Reports also hinted that the film might go on floors by the end of 2025, with the director yet to be locked in. Aditya Sarpotdar, who directed Munjya, was said to be the frontrunner, while Tabbar director Ajitpal Singh’s name also came up as a possible contender.
However, Maddock Films has now put these rumours to rest. The production house shared an official statement on social media clarifying, “While we truly value the excitement around our horror-comedy universe, we want to make it absolutely clear that any reports regarding the casting of the upcoming chapters, including Shakti Shalini and Maha Munjya, are purely speculative. We urge the media to avoid misinformation and to wait for official announcements from us.”
With this clarification, it is clear that no casting or directorial decisions for Shakti Shalini have been finalised yet. For now, fans will have to wait for Maddock Films to officially reveal who will headline the next chapter of this much-loved horror-comedy universe.
