Neha Dhupia is poised to make a splash on the global stage with her international film debut, Blue 52, helmed by acclaimed Egyptian filmmaker Ali El Arabi. Known for his award-winning documentary Captains of Za’atari, El Arabi showcases his directorial prowess in this fiction venture set against the breathtaking landscapes of Kochi, India, and Qatar. Blue 52 has earned accolades at prestigious festivals like Hot Docs and El Gouna.

In her first international lead role, Neha Dhupia transforms into a character steeped in high-emotion drama in Blue 52. The narrative revolves around Ashish, isolated by his father at age 9 on an island near Kochi following the loss of his older brother. As he grows, Ashish, now 22, embarks on a journey to discover the world beyond his small island home, guided by life lessons from his mother. Fueled by newfound determination, he sets out on a life-altering adventure to meet his idol, Messi, at the World Cup in Qatar 2022.

Expressing her excitement about the international debut, Neha Dhupia describes the journey with Blue 52 as magical. The film’s exploration of diverse cultures allowed her to delve into a challenging and emotionally resonant character. She believes this transformative experience will have a lasting impact and expresses gratitude for being chosen by Ali to portray the lead in her international debut.

Director Ali El Arabi emphasizes that Blue 52 is a labour of love, seamlessly blending cinematic languages from Egypt, America, and India. Neha Dhupia’s unparalleled dedication brings nuanced emotional depth to her character. The film’s picturesque settings in Kochi and the vibrant energy of Qatar provide the perfect canvas for storytelling. El Arabi sees Blue 52 as a testament to the collaborative spirit of international cinema and eagerly anticipates audiences experiencing the richness crafted in collaboration.

Presented by Ambient Light, Blue 52 is directed and produced by Ali El Arabi, with Tariq Al-Naama as a producer, and co-producers Krysanne Katsoolis, Joe Matthews, and Katara Studios.
