The news of filmmaker AR Murugadoss  helming his upcoming ‘Darbar’ starring Superstar Rajnikanth is already out. The latest update on the film is the announcement of Nayanthara joining the team as the female lead.

Darbar would be coincidentally Nayanthara’s collaboration with both Rajni and Murugadoss after a gap of 14 years. Her last with the director was in the year 2005 in Surya-Asin starrer action thriller Ghajini  and  Chandramukhi with the superstar.

Made under the banner of Lyca Productions, the movie is set in Mumbai. Confirming about Nayanthara joining the Darbar team Lyca tweeted, “Nayanthara joins the sets of thalaivar’s #Darbar today ?? @ARMurugadoss @santoshsivan @anirudhofficial #IdhuThalaivarinDarbar.”

Murugadoss also took to his twitter handle and shared his happiness of working with Nayanthara again by tweeting, “Glad to collaborate with #Nayanthara again ??”

The first look poster of the movie was released earlier in April. Based on the poster, we can figure out that Rajnikanth will be playing a cop in the movie. Bollywood actor Prateik Babbar, who was last seen in Amazon Prime Video series ‘Four More Shots Please’ will play the antagonist.

The movie is slated for an early 2020 Pongal release.
