Indian actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui is considered one of the most refined actors in the Indian film industry for his performances but the actor is also popular for his unfiltered opinions. While Nawazuddin is currently in the news for his next, Heropanti 2, with Tiger Shroff, his views on the recent humongous successes of pan-India releases, K.G.F: Chapter 2 and RRR, are controversial.

In a recent interview with news daily NDTV, the critically-acclaimed actor shared his views on the recent trend of K.G.F: Chapter 2 and the movement of Indian audiences towards masala movies. In the interaction, the Nawazuddin shared that he expected the audience would emerge with a refined taste for cinema based on the quality of international content available on streaming platforms during the lockdown. However, he felt unimpressed as the craze for masala content continues.

“Change has come but it’s for the worse,” he said on the success of recently released trendsetting movies like RRR and K.G.F: Chapter 2. He further shared that the trend will soon change with another Bollywood hit as he compared it with fashion. “When a film does well everyone joins in and praises it more than it probably deserves. Similarly if a film isn’t a hit, people criticise it more than it deserves. This is like fashion, now if a Bollywood film becomes a big hit then all these talks will change. I think this is just a trend,” the actor quips.

On the work front, Nawazuddin Siddiqui can be seen sharing screen space with Tiger Shroff for the first time in the latest release, Heropanti 2. The action drama fails to get a positive initial response from the critics. The movie competes with Shahid Kapoor’s Jersey remake and the record-breaking K.G.F: Chapter 2 at the box office and the current trend is not in the favour of Heropanti 2.
