The untimely and unfortunate death of the Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput has kept millions in anguish for months and even after almost half a year, the mystery continues. Many criminal investigation agencies have been probing the cause of the late actor’s death but there has been no significant breakthrough so far apart from exposing the alleged drug nexus in the entertainment industry.
Adding more uncertainty in the case, Mumbai Police submitted an affidavit in the Bombay High court and dismissed allegations trying to making the reputation of the late actor and his sisters. However, the Mumbai Police also seeks the dismissal of the petition of Priyanka Singh and Meetu Singh to dismiss the case against them. The response from the Mumbai Police comes days after the CBI opposed the FIR filed against the late actor’s sisters.
The affidavit submitted by the Mumbai Police further stressed that “a fake medical prescription was sent by the petitioners with the help of a Delhi-based doctor wherein medicines for anxiety were prescribed to Rajput” and claimed that these medicines might have contributed to the alleged suicide of the actor. “This may have led to administration of psychotropic substances without actual examination of Rajput by the doctor, and may have caused and contributed to his suicidal death. This version of the informant disclosed cognisable offences warranting investigation and requiring no preliminary enquiry. Therefore, the Mumbai police were duty-bound to register the FIR,” the police told the court in the affidavit.
For the unversed, Priyanka Singh had reportedly advised Sushant Singh Rajput to take medicines that are banned under the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substance. The petition revealed that the Delhi-based doctor readily prescribed the medicine without having any prior knowledge of Sushant’s condition and mental health.
